If you had asked me early November if I would be going to Germany, it wouldn't have even crossed my mind. An email appeared in my inbox about an opportunity to work in Germany for a few weeks and I jumped on it. With only four days to pack, get a passport for my infant daughter, and find a sitter for the house/dog/cat, off my family and I went. Somehow we pulled it all together and we couldn't have done it without our amazing family.
Our flight to Germany was long, but our daughter was great, particularly since it was her first time flying. She only had one crying session and slept for the rest of the flight.
Our second night in Germany rendered a little bit of bad luck. A car side swiped our beautiful Audi 3 rental car at a mall entrance. I guess the driver was eager to start shopping! He came over into our lane and scratched the front side bumper. Everyone was okay, but it put a slight damper on our excitement of being in Germany.
We finally found our touring groove when we set out on foot in our suburb neighborhood in Germany. We found a quaint school yard with a unique bird feeder that my wife loved, a church, and various German style homes.
Later that night, we took our daughter for her first swim at our hotel pool and she loved it.
The next day, we visited the Ludwigsburg Castle. Our daughter was up for the entire tour looking at all the extravagant decor. Unfortunately, we couldn't take pictures inside, but we loved watching her take it all in.
Our first weekend was a success and we are looking forward to the next!
