Throughout the week, we got some random photos of Germany and our daughter. We saw our first beautiful sunset from our hotel window and the first snowfall.
Saturday morning we got up way too early (Yawn) to drive to Heidelberg, Germany. Our hotel was in a prime location as we had a view of the Old Bridge from our hotel window. We climbed "too many stairs" my wife jokingly said to reach the Heidelberg castle, which overlooked the city. She did have a 15lb baby strapped to her. It was well worth the hike though. The view was gorgeous! The castle had extensive damage that was caused by lighting strikes and war.
We headed back down to the Marienplatz to wander around the Heidelberg Christmas Market. We drank some mulled wine and kept our souvenir mug. We have learned that each Christmas Market has their own special mug. You get the mug when you buy mulled wine. Once you are done with your wine, you can either turn you mug back in and get some Euro back in return or you can keep the mug.
Our daughter also got her first picture with Santa Clause at the market. She did really well as she didn't cry. I think she was more concerned about making sure her thumb made it into her mouth.
The next day, we drove to the wrong Rothenburg. Luckily, it wasn't too far out of the way from "the real" Rothenburg. It did take up a lot of time though, and we barely got to see anything or take any nice pictures. We definitely plan on revisiting Rothenburg in the near future.
Cheers until next time!
