Our second weekend in Germany consisted of a trip to the Neuschwanstein Castle, Fussen, and Munich. I finally got to drive on the Autobahn, where I did a conservative 190 kph, which is a little over 100 mph. The car was not even fazed. It felt like we were driving at 70 mph.
The first stop on our adventure was the Neuschwanstein Castle. Perched on a mountain, we hiked 30 minutes to the top and toured the inside. Our daughter slept on the hike up and was awake for the tour. Similar to the other castle we toured, interior photography was prohibited. There was a lot to see and do around the castle, we just ran out of time.
The next day we explored a town near the castle called Fussen. We wandered the cobblestone streets and soaked up the scenery and did some shopping. By the afternoon, we started our next adventure to Munich.
If you ever want to visit Munich, this is the time of the year to do it! The Christmas market in the Marienplatz was so much fun. There were tons of booths selling unique ornaments, mulled wine and egg nog, gingerbread cookies, chocolate, and delicious German food. We went to three different themed Christmas markets, which all offered a unique experience. Our daughter met St. Nicholas at the medieval themed Christmas market. Later, we went up the tower of the St. Peter's church and had a great night view of Munich. Auf Wiedersehen until next week!
